I did a little word study on what a "help meet" is and was truly convicted by the Word of God and the definitions. Sadly, so many times I am the antonym rather than the synonym. I hope this will help someone else as much as it helped me.....Now for the hard part....putting it into practice ;)
~And the Lord said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him…And the Lord God caused a great sleep to fall upon Adam…and he took one of his ribs…And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. Gen 2:18, 21-22
Do we help or hinder our husbands by our words and actions? So many times, regretfully, I hinder him. Instead of giving words of encouragement, I criticize. Instead of befriending him, there are times I treat him like he's my worst enemy. We need to ask ourselves this question before we speak, "If I talked or acted this way to my friends, would they still want to hang around me?" Most of the time, we would have to answer "no" Lord Help!! Our husbands are the ones who have promised "till death do us part" yet sometimes we treat them like we want them dead! Lord, help us all to be the help meet we need to be so that we are right with God and have a marriage that is a little piece of heaven on earth!
Here is what I found...allow it sink into your spirit and soul and change your heart for the Glory of God!
